The Trebuchet is most effective if it is shooting straight. While often outshone by its predecessor's massive battle record, the Trebuchet was always a welcome addition to any task force it was assigned to. Its armament favored the classic destroyer tactic of hit and run ambushes while also opening up opportunities for defensive picket usage against an incoming fleet, allowing it to fall back and reposition safely outside of Covenant armament ranges before assaulting again.
Granted a fighting forces some needed breathing space with massive banks of Archer missiles and an over/under arrangement for its MAC cannons improving hit chances on the thin cross section of a Covenant ship, the Trebuchet became well liked for its ability to dictate the engagement from the start. Constructed using the lessons learned from the years of fighting Covenant forces, the Trebuchet is a natural evolution of the Halberd-class destroyer that arrived near the end of the war.
